Overview

Biff is invited to spend some time in the Caribbean by his uncle, Charles Keene during a school break and finds mystery and adventure awaiting him. Uncle Charlie's friend has gone missing after discovering a valuable pearl bed. Biff meets the man's son, Derek, who happens to look just like Biff. There's an evil profiteer who's trying to steal the claim, and the three spend a lot of time SCUBA-diving (in between being chased and kidnapped), and trying to find Derek's father as well. Biff was the hero of thirteen novels in the early 1960's, all with exotic foreign settings and well-written adventure sequences. Most of the series books heroes of the time were paired with partners (Fran & Joe Hardy, Tom Swift & Bud Barclay, Ken Holt & Sandy Allen, Rick Brant & Scotty, etc.), but Biff always made new friends in his stories, though they sometimes returned. This is the eighth book of the series, and was a fun read.

About the Author

Andy Adams was born in Indiana, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Elliott). As a boy, he helped with the cattle and horses on the family farm. During the early 1880s, he went to Texas, where he stayed for 10 years, spending much of that time driving cattle on the western trails. In 1890, he tried working as a businessman, but the venture failed, so he tried gold-mining in Colorado and Nevada. In 1894, he settled in Colorado Springs, where he lived until his death.
