About the Author

Shortly after being married, my husband and I took a six month road trip around the U.S. It was there I first became aware of the impact we have on our environment. Upon returning I resumed my career as a public health nurse. We raised three kids in Southern California. After we retired, we took multiple long distance backpacking trips. Until recently, we were van-living for over two and a half years. In 2019, we were the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) Association’s Southern Terminus Hosts tasked with teaching Leave No Trace principles to over 2000 hikers. For two years, we additionally spent countless hours volunteering for the local Cleveland National Forest district. We are back in our home in Encinitas, CA with our dog, Juno.
