About the Author

DAMODAR R. SARDESAI is Professor Emeritus in History at UCLA. His publications include Southeast Asia - Past and Present (1981), Second edition (1989), Third edition (1994), Vietnam, Trials and Tribulations of a Nation (1988), Second edition (1992). He was co-editor of The Legacy of Nehru, A Centennial Assessment (1992).

RAJU G.C. THOMAS is the Allis Chalmers Professor of International Affairs at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His books include The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Regime: Prospects for the Twenty-First Century, (Macmillan & St. Martin's Press, 1998); India's Nuclear Security (Lynne Rienner/ Sage, 2000). He is currently completing two books entitled Self-Determination Versus State Sovereighnty in the Age of Globalization (Burnham/ Nelson-Hall), and Markets and Politics in India. Thomas has published over 60 book chapters and journal articles.
