Overview

Oddgodfrey represents the “unicorn soul” we all have inside. He is the weird part of our hearts that pushes us to do crazy things we never thought we could. This round and fuzzy, soft and blue unicorn finds himself dropped into a place he felt he was never meant to be. Harboring a dream to cast off to sea, he enlists a group of friends to help him find his way. Success seems on the horizon until he learns something new about himself: he is a seasick unicorn. There is a moment in which all his friends suggest maybe he should turn back. Instead, Oddgodfrey digs deep, leans on his teammates, and in turn, inspires them. He learns to be patient, and he works through the challenges. It is a story about setting unexpected intentions, following the lucky breaks, building friendship, grit, patience, and all that it takes to sail twenty-two days across the world’s largest stretch of ocean. It is a story about following your “odd-heart”.

About the Author

Leslie Godfrey grew up in the high mountain desert of Tooele, Utah, USA. She graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney School of Law, then relocated to the even more dry desert of Las Vegas, Nevada to practice commercial litigation telling clients' (true!) stories to judges, juries, and arbitrators. Over the first ten years of her career, she rose through the ranks to become a partner with Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Then, in 2016, she and her husband cast off the dock lines to their Valiant 40 cutter rigged sailboat, Sonrisa, and pointed the bow westward to start a sailing circumnavigation of the world. To date, they have sailed 17,000 miles of the 25,000 miles around the equatorial globe. She is fascinated by the pursuit of goals that take hold of unlikely dreamers and push one to grow beyond the expected path for their lives. You can generally find her "somewhere at sea" following the navigational chart drawn by her own Odd-heart. She publishes a blog of her sailing adventures at www.oddgodfrey.com, and she is found on Facebook and Instagram @Oddgodfrey.
