A Miami native, Ludwin Cruz was drawn to the Motor City (Detroit Mi, ) for the educational and work opportunities it provided. He obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design with a minor in Illustration from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Ludwin then went on to work as a concept artist for Armstrong White, before landing his first automotive design position at Ford. He now works as a Lead Designer Manager for Stellantis under the Jeep Brand.

Although Industrial design is his daily contribution to the world, Ludwin also moonlights as an author/illustrator. Ode to the Monster in Me is his first book.
