Old Movies
“Old Movies” is a May-December love story set on the rocky coast of Maine. Mismatched lovers try to hold onto an unlikely future, while a dangerous border drug war swirls about them. The lovers find that sometimes the lasting values—and the ones which will save you—are to be found in Old Movies.
John Fox is a widower and a retired construction company owner who owns two houses located on a bluff overlooking the sea near Lubec, Maine. He lives in one of the houses and rents the other next door to long-term summer visitors. But the occupants this summer are not the norm: One, Dave, is a personable and polite young man who as it turns out is engaged in an across-the-Canadian-border drug trade. Sean, his assistant, is a long-haired marijuana-smoking young man. Amanda, Dave’s girlfriend, is a single mother who seems to be a good person caught up in a bad situation. With her is her young daughter, Amy.
Amanda and her daughter seek some peace, tranquility, and comfort in the home of their landlord neighbor John. Without actually intending to, she and John fall in love, despite their age difference of 30 years. This development leads to an explosive climax filled with murder and revenge. But it also leads to a happy ending.
