About the Author

Melissa Shepherd is a mom who loves to read stories to her children. Inspired by her two wonderful kids, Trevor and Darian, she decided to write a children’s story of her own. She has been writing for her children for several years now, but had never taken the step to have them published until now. On Mother’s Day, one of the fi rst stories she has written, is dedicated to her late husband, Steven Michael Shepherd, who always gave her the extra little push she needed to be successful. She also dedicates this book to her own mother, Judy Nowotny Wagnon, whom she lost suddenly in 1999, for instilling in her the love for reading. Melissa Shepherd is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She received her BSW in December 2000, and has many hours of experience in child development. She hopes you enjoy the story of Bucky the Squirrel, who makes a big mess of everything he tries to do to make his mom’s Mother’s Day special. In the end, Bucky learns that it is not exactly what you do that makes someone happy, but what is in your heart.
