Chapter One

January 1

Fresh Start

It's a brand new year. Is it really possible for me to get a fresh start?

God's Response

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin. Zechariah 4:10

Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature. Ephesians 4:23-24 (NLT-2)

* You harvest what you plant. Pumpkin seeds produce pumpkins. Sunflower seeds produce sunflowers. That is exactly why you must beg the Lord to plant within you a clean heart, so that your life will produce clean thoughts, actions, and motives. The bad desires and thoughts that remain are evidence that some bad seeds have also been planted and you need to do some weeding. Complete renewal is not yet accomplished. None of us will be entirely pure in this life, but purity of mind and heart is one of the most worthy goals to pursue this year. Is it your goal? How will you be different at the end of this year-inside and outside-if you meet that goal?

God's Promise

I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again. PHILIPPIANS 1:6

January 2

Vision

Why is it important for me to seek God's vision for the future?

God's Response

Glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. Ephesians 3:20

The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. John 14:12

* You already have some vision of the future. Seeking God's vision breaks your bondage to small ideas that are not worthy of God or representative of God's work in the world. God's vision inspires hope in greater possibilities. By aligning your vision with God's vision for your life, you will be able to navigate your future with purpose and clarity.

God's Challenge

"My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." ISAIAH 55:8-9

Vision

How can I align my vision with God's plan for me?

God's Response

Elisha prayed, "O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!" The Lord opened his servant's eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. 2 Kings 6:17

Because I have done what is right, I will see you. When I awake, I will be fully satisfied, for I will see you face-to-face. Psalm 17:15

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your law. Psalm 119:18

* There are several ways to find God's vision for your life: through his Word, through the conscience he has built into you, through the counsel of other godly people, and through prayer. God wants to reveal his vision for your life. Believe in his power, seek his guidance each day, and be alert to the ways that he answers you.

God's Promise

God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. MATTHEW 5:8
