About the Author

Working with families of early childhood age children entails a lot of responsibilities. Author Ron Robertson is President of Excellent Beginnings National Network, Inc., an early childhood education foundation and consulting firm. He is a past member of the U.S. Office of Education’s National Diffusion Network Advisory Board on Rural Education in America. Robertson is the retired early childhood and preschool manager of the lauded Virginia Preschool Initiative program of City of Richmond Public Schools.

Robertson works extensively with early childhood education teams composed of school administrators, teachers, parents, support staff, and community stakeholders throughout the country. It was in that work that his passion for family engagement took shape and emerged. Robertson is an advocate for parent engagement in the lives of children's education, and is a recognized voice for the replication of it on a national scale, particularly in at-risk communities with hard-to-reach families.

In his book, Opening the Door to Parent Involvement, Robertson helps educators move the needle from passive parental involvement to achievement of a higher level of home-school synchronous relationships.
