About the Author

Joseph A. Cocciardi, has spent 25 years in the fields of Public Safety and Public, Occupational, and Environmental Health. He holds various licenses to work with toxic materials and train workers in the fields of hazardous and toxic wastes and materials. He sits as an expert and principal member of four NFPA committees and is a member of six ASTM health, safety, and environmentally related national committees. Dr. Cocciardi is a Board Certified Safety Professional and a Board Certified Industrial Hygienist. He is a Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Specialist. He has presented and worked both national and internationally in the safety and health field and has been the principal safety officer at multiple large hazardous operations. He instructs course work for various training agencies including field programs for the National Fire Academy/National Emergency Training Center in the areas of terrorism and hazardous materials response.
