Overview

It's the summer of 1995 and the heart of teenage experience lies with Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden. It's the upheaval of summer where gossip and rumors abound, friendships will be tested, and teenage raucousness will rage on. Most importantly, this is the summer of where an unexpected romance between two teen girls, Sarah and Gwen, begins to blossom.

These are their days of youth, full of honest beginnings, where everything in life is insatiably tried for the first time. They will delight in new experiences, not thinking of consequences or that certain episodes of their lives will be irreparable, unchangeable. "Do you like me? Yes or no." Love will seem simple, and pain to endure forever. It is unimaginable to them that time could do anything to diminish the intensity of their feelings.

All the teens will have their unique drama--whether with failed exemplary parents, clumsy self-discovery, or glorious heartbreak--and they will cling to their friendships to get through it all. They'll find relief by going to raves, secrecy, and rebellion. Careless and carefree, they are timeless teenage renegades on the search for meaning and identity.

This book contains the full collection of scripts from Season 2 of the oldest and longest running teen web series, "Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden." This is the book where the epic "Sarah & Gwen" love story develops and spans throughout 4 more books. It was this romance that sparked a following for the web series and its creator, Otessa Ghadar. The story is part recollection, part urban legend, and part pure fiction-- but completely inspired by the author's memories of growing up in Washington, D.C. and the enchantment of her youth.

Venture into Bishop's Garden and remember what it feels like to have your whole life ahead of you! Best part is, when you're done reading, you can live the romance by watching the web series adaptation online (www.ojinbg.com).

About the Author

OTESSA GHADAR, a Washington D.C. native, is an independent film maker and award-winning web series creator on the rise. Since 2007, Otessa's been pioneering the web series format and establishing new ground in the wild west of the web and new media.
She created and directed the much-beloved, and highly-lauded show "Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden (OJBG)" when the idea of internet television was still in its infancy. As one of the medium's earliest adopters, she is a true forerunner and pioneer of the wild west of film. Her series, OJBG, is now one of the oldest and longest running web series and continues to release new content. Otessa has been named as a recent Filmmaker of the Month by the DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development and has been recognized as an ITV Innovator. She organized and hosted the first Web Series Festival in Washington, DC in April 2013 and arranged for the first screening of web series at the 27th Annual Washington, DC International Film Festival (Filmfest DC).
The web series is an example of "writing what you know." It's part recollection, part urban legend, part pure fiction, and completely inspired by her own memories. Otessa's teen years were spent serenaded by Morrissey, listening to mixtapes, and missing the last Metro and getting stuck miles from payphones. This teen magic is what captured her imagination and which she embodies and upholds in her writing and film. She portrays teen life as it is lived-- dramatic, filled with self-discovery, and the pain and exhilaration of navigating life.
Throughout the years, Otessa has been pushing the show-- and the envelope-- to explore themes like sexuality, the feminine experience, and otherness. Much like her OJBG characters, her show represents the lesser-known sides of our nation's capital: the underground culture, local fashion, and indie lore-- AKA "coaxing Jack and Jill off 'The Hill'". Also like Otessa, OJBG is thought-provoking and sincere; it embodies the rebelliousness of the ’90s grunge era while tackling social issues that surround youth across the world, such as sexuality, bullying, peer pressure, and intolerance. Through fiction and film, Otessa and her show seek to empower and connect young adults around the world and advocate for tolerance and freedom within media. Screened online, the accessibility of OJBG fills a global void in gay and lesbian entertainment for LGBTQ youth whose stories are underrepresented and under-served. Presen
