Overview

Children and adults will love this wonderful book about honor and virtue in the Middle Ages. Otto, the young hero of the novel, proves that evil begets evil and good begets honor. This novel, was first published in 1888 by one of America's finest authors/illustrators Howard Pyle. He also wrote and illustrated classics like the Merry Adventures of Robin Hood. This book is inspiring and exciting. A great book to read aloud to children. It comes with over forty beautiful black and white intricate illustrations.

I hope you enjoy this book. When I first started reading books on my nook Library I noticed that there are many free classics available. However the formatting is terrible and some are unreadable because of errors in the text. Therefore, I decided to start publishing quality classics that included chapter breaks, table of contents, linked chapters, and illustrations when available. Keep your eye out for inspirational stories from us, EirenikosPress.

About the Author

Howard Pyle (March 5, 1853 – November 9, 1911) was an American illustrator and author, primarily of books for young people. His 1883 classic publication The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood remains in print, and his other books, frequently with medieval European settings, include a four-volume set on King Arthur. He is also well known for his illustrations of pirates, and is credited with creating the now stereotypical modern image of pirate dress. He published an original novel, Otto of the Silver Hand, in 1888. He also illustrated historical and adventure stories for periodicals such as Harper's Weekly and St. Nicholas Magazine. His novel Men of Iron was made into a movie in 1954, The Black Shield of Falworth.
