About the Author

Marie Osburn Reid is a longtime resident of Fairbanks, Alaska where her three children were born and raised. Over Rainbows was inspired by her long history of living in the interior of Alaska. From Truckee, California she moved to Alaska in 1958 just a few months before it became the 49th state. Her first novel, "THE SPIRIT BASKET, 270 Years of an Alaska Family", was inspired by years of work at University of Alaska Museum of the North, where the cultures and history of Alaska Natives are truly alive. "CLIMBING THE GREAT DENALI" is a novella she wrote based on her son’s climbs of Mt. McKinley. All three of these novels are perfect for sixth graders and up. In past years, Highlights for Children magazine published two stories under her name, Marie Delilah Ward. One story was a winner in their annual contest. Writing "OVER RAINBOWS" about the beginning of aviation in Alaska has been her pleasure over many years.
