Overview

Parade Rest is a tribute to those who brought change and motivated a nation through their sacrifices. Each poem is a testament to the tenderhearted moments experienced by military members assigned to combat zones, and the effervescent darkness which crawls into the psyche of the most hardened combat veteran and takes root. These pieces represent friends made while serving on active duty, college, and during chance meetings in the most awkward of places.

About the Author

As the son of an Army First Sergeant, Christopher Hinkle spent most of his early childhood traveling abroad and sought out his time of service soon after graduating high school. He served in the US Army as a Combat Medic during deployments to Panama, the Balkans, and Southwest Asia before leaving. Now living in Knoxville, his time is divided between the pursuit of a degree in History at the University of Tennessee (where he is currently a senior,) and family time with his wife Linda (who also served as a Combat Medic) and their four children. Writing became a small part of his life early in college and since has become a passion. Although poetry is his true passion, there is plenty of time to commit to short-fiction pieces, and following graduation he plans to write as close to full-time as possible.
