About the Author

Leslie LiDonnici, MD underwent repair of patent ductus arteriosus at age four. From childhood, she wanted to understand why heart defects occur and how they can be treated. She trained in surgery with a special focus on congenital heart disease. She found that during her training, her diagrams were often helpful to parents, nurses, and other doctors.
