CHAPTER 1

The beginning of spring was warm that year, All were festive and filled with Easter cheer! While beach goers enjoyed the sunny outdoors, Gardeners bought supplies in their favorite plant stores!

Petunia Bobbin who had traveled down south, Had flowers in her hand and ice cream in her mouth! It was spring break week all over the land, And it was time to relax and play in the sand.

Petunia couldn't wait to see her very best friend, Winter seemed like it would never ever end! Now that the bitter cold winter had finally passed, Time was here for best friends to have a blast!

They met up in Alabama - along the sandy coast, Where the Baby Robin could be a great host. He had spent all winter along the Gulf Shore, And was excited to take Petunia on a coastal tour.

They spent that Monday romping in the sun, Laughing and swimming and just having fun. Then after a feast of delicious seafood, They met someone in an extremely bad mood!

Little Pete was his name and he was a rabbit, Now, he had one very unusual habit. Handing out candy is the only nice thing he'd do, Just why he did this - no one really knew.

Little Pete was a very unhappy guy, Petunia could see anger - in his dark colored eyes. As he handed candy to every girl and boy, He simply frowned and felt absolutely no joy!

When Petunia asked him, "Where are you heading?" Little Pete snapped back, "On a trip that I'm dreading! My clumsy Father hurt his paw this year, He can't do his job - so he made me volunteer.

He won't tell me what he does for a living, He said first I must learn the meaning of giving." Therefore he sent me here to hand out candy, To search for this feeling he calls, "Dandy"!

Petunia asked Little Pete if they could come along, She assured him their friendship would prove to be strong. When he agreed - her face lit up with a huge, huge grin, She just knew an adventure was about to begin!

Petunia knew she had one important chore. When they reached the Mississippi River shore. Early Tuesday morning she sat Little Pete down, She tried to explain life's lessons - they'd already found.

Lessons like love and faith - and being kind, But Petunia could tell - he was paying her no mind! So the Baby Robin spoke up to give it a try, And still Little Pete - had a blank look in his eye!

Nothing either one of them said was getting through, Poor Little Pete just simply had no clue! That caring for others is the right thing to do, And everything in life - is not always about You!
