Overview

The term pin-up girl was first coined in 1941, but the actual practice can be documented back to the 1890's. A pin-up girl was a model whose picture was meant to be 'pinned-up' on a wall. There were famous pin-up girls such as Betty Gable, and there were many that were illustrations. These pictures are also sometimes known as cheesecake photos.
