Overview

Pink Sweat$' first album, Pink Planet follows a sequence of three EPs and numerous singles that began in 2018. Its length is deceptive. The third EP, The Prelude, was more like an advance sampler, as all six of its tracks -- plus a secondary version of "At My Worst" featuring Kehlani -- appear here, and another song, "Honesty," originated on the Volume 1 EP. Still, it's a significant milestone for Pink Sweat$, who got his start as a demo vocalist and songwriter behind the scenes. While there is a predominantly acoustic ballad among the new material (in the form of the breezy "Paradise"), Pink continues to add layers to his sound while refining his transparent and kindhearted expressions of affection, longing, and commitment. Among the best of the new material here are "Magic," "So Sweet," and "Heaven," blissed-out love songs that incorporate touches of classic gospel, blues, and soul without pandering to throwback addicts. ~ Andy Kellman
