Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867-1957) was an American author known for the Little House on the Prairie series of children's novels based on her childhood in a settler family. The "Little House" books were adapted into a popular television series and five of the Wilder's books were Newbery Honor books: On the Banks of Plum Creek, By the Shores of Silver Lake, The Long Winter, Little Town on the Prairie , and These Happy Golden Years.
