About the Author

Born in 1954, Mr. Starks is the second of three sons and raised in a blue-collar family. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1972, a time when many refused to serve due to the ongoing Vietnam conflict.
Upon his discharge he attended college briefly but soon learned that he had a talent for investigative journalism and though he did not attend formal classes, he honed that ability and became a respected independent journalist.

During a function in 1980 he was approached by a community radio station owner and asked if he had ever considered being a radio personality. It was at this point in his early career he accepted that opportunity and he never looked back. He took on the persona of Bob Williams because like he said, “I felt that my real first name was counterintuitive and could easily be mistaken as a woman.”

Mr. Starks’ unique ability in asking the hard questions earned him a reputation as being a “pit bull.” He never let his guests escape or slide on the issues most important to his listeners. His program “Upfront and Outspoken with Bob Williams” became the centerpiece for KKRP radio in Oklahoma and soon went into syndication on the Star Com Radio Network. With the advent of the internet and incorporating it into his show, he was able to reach a global audience and they responded in kind. His guest list included a wide array of personalities from entertainers to politicians, to socialites, to ufologists and other radio personalities such as his personal favorites Ed Tyll and Rob McConnell, host of the X-Zone.

After 35 years in the industry, he retired in 2015 devoting his time to writing. He has written books that are works of fiction (Ring of Death) and historical in content (We Choose the Moon). This latest work, “Planet Earth: Cause and Effect,” brings to the forefront four possible scenarios that could easily impact our society and potentially destroy our earth as we know it. Using his no nonsense approach, he keeps his chapters short and to the point unlike other authors, yet in doing so keeps you engaged until the very end.

Unlike other authors, Mr. Starks rarely grants interviews or attends book signings. His philosophy is “if they sell, they sell, I’m not doing this to become a millionaire” thus allowing his work to speak for itself. He currently lives a quiet life with his wife of 19 years in a tiny Oklahoma community.
