Agitur de fortitudine. Non tamen primarius hic est dìalogî istîus fiuis. Propositum enim est Flatonì estendere, civiles illos homines, quos vocat, et cum quibus non minus erat ipsi certamen, quam cum Sephistìs, ignorare vetam rationem institu endaa juventutìs, quam extemis et adventitiìs tantum exercitatîonibus, veluti armorum tractandorum rei equestris, et hujusmodî rerum peritiìs cìrcumscrihebant virtutem autem, quae fons est et caput verze institutionis, et ad quam omnes ì]lze peritîae revocati debent, secure praetermîttebant. Inconsultam autem civi lium hominum de lìberìs instituendîs curam, in duorum senum, Lysimachi et Melesiw, personis reprzesentat.
