Overview

This short guide covers a few major points pertaining to Transracial and White families that have the beautiful task of raising a Black child in America. For over a decade, these topics have consistently come up in conversations with White parents of Black children, so I have decided to write this piece in hopes of helping bridge the gap between Black children and their White parents. The goal is to help Black children feel seen, heard, and understood in their white homes.

If you have become parents to a beautiful, Black child via adoption, foster, or birth and have been feeling a sense of disconnection from your child or have the desire to feel closer to them, this guide will help lead you to a path of unity. Being aware of your child's cultural differences and embracing them will help them with self identity as they grow up.
