About the Author

Dr. Shields earned a PhD in English literature from New York University and has written on stereotyping in Victorian literature and George Eliot’s essays. She is a retired professor and lives in West Hartford, CT. A spiritual agnostic, she is committed to the humanities and finds particular affinity for mindfulness meditation.
