About the Author

Dr. Deepali Tewari is working as Subject Matter Specialist/Assistant Professor (Horticulture) at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. She has done her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Vegetable Science from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. She was awarded the best Ph.D. award by Government of U.P. for the year 2001. Before joining this university, for more than two years, she worked as “Programme Manager” in a World Bank project “Diversified Agriculture Supporting Project (DASP)” at U.P. Council of Agricultural Research handling 59 projects spread all over Uttarakhand and U.P. During her 11 years tenure at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, she worked for development of farmers at grass root level (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) as well as at headquarters (coordinating development activities of 11 KVKs under the aegis of university). In her eight years into academics, she taught graduates as well post graduate students. She has been CoPI in four research projects funded by DST, DBT and ICAR. Her areas of interest include vegetable production and improvement, rural development, women empowerment and application of ICT in agricultural development.
