John Walsh, P.A., is a Physician Assistant and Diabetes Clinical Specialist who has provided clinical care to thousands of people with diabetes for more than 30 years in a wide variety of clinical settings, including private practice, HMO and university settings. He has pumped for 30 years and worn almost every insulin pump released during that time. He has also started hundreds of people on pumps and provided their clinical care.
Mr. Walsh is a popular presenter on a wide variety of diabetes topics to physicians, health professionals, diabetes educators, and people with diabetes, including the American Diabetes Association, Canadian Diabetes Association, Diabetic Sports and Exercise Association, Children With Diabetes, and pump support groups.
He serves as President of Diabetes Services, Inc. and is webmaster of www.diabetesnet.com, a highly trafficked source of diabetes information and online store. He has authored or coauthored numerous diabetes articles, abstracts. diabetes books and booklets. He is a consultant for medical corporations, and has developed many of the theories and assisted in the design of many of the dose-related features in today’s and tomorrow’s pumps and devices. He is considered an authority on pumps, devices, and intensive diabetes management, and sees patients at Advanced Metabolic Care and Research in Escondido, CA.
Ruth Roberts, M.A., is CEO of Diabetes Services, Inc, Diabetes Mall and Torrey Pines Press, and a widely-read medical writer and editor. She has served as a corporate training administrator, technical writer, and instructional designer for twenty years in San Diego. She has coauthored several books on diabetes, edited a weekly internet newsletter, “Diabetes This Week,” and written numerous articles on diabetes.
She is a consultant for medical corporations and business start-ups specializing in diabetes products and services. She is a professional member of the American Diabetes Association and past board member of the International Diabetes Athletes Association, now DESA.
