About the Author

Jonathan Webber is a social anthropologist. He is Emeritus Unesco Professor of the University of Birmingham (UK) and, before his retirement in 2016, was a professor at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków.

Chris Schwarz, who died in 2007, was a British photojournalist and founder of the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków.

Jason Francisco is an acclaimed photographer and essayist, many of whose books and installations deal with Jewish memory. He teaches in the department of Film and Media Studies at Emory University, Atlanta.
