About the Author

Sandra grew-up in Chicago after she, and her family, moved from France at an early age. An interest in food and dining - and wine - was a family characteristic and Sandra got hooked watching and helping her mother cook. She quickly learned about all the other American staples but remained a fan of her mom’s cooking and attention to details.

Sandra moved from Chicago to Nashville where she worked for a mid-sized, national company. She spent her days managing data, interacting with the national field force, and loving it. But by the end of the day, didn’t feel much like cooking a grand meal, or really any meal at all. So, she and her husband became restaurant dine-in, carry-out, and delivery people. Even started a restaurant and dining review podcast.

All this working and carry-out and food deliveries and restaurant dining sparked a concept in Sandi’s brain, especially when she gazed at the rice boxes in the fridge that seemed to multiply with minds of their own. “We always have leftover rice in the fridge. What are we going to do with it all?”, she pondered. She also realized that for many others, like her, are borderline workaholics with a bunch of leftover rice in the refrigerator. Or maybe youngsters who just need a little kickstart to make enjoyable, affordable meals.

That’s when it started, this book, designed to provide a little guidance and a lot of flavors. Respect the Rice was born from Sandra’s passion… a desire to demonstrate and instruct us how excellent meals can be created from those boxes of rice, some chicken, and a few other ingredients that you probably already have on-hand.

She embarked on a creative cooking path and spent the next couple years perfecting the art of chicken and rice. All of that led to the completion of this book, a testament to Sandra’s creative will-power, her dedication to the project, and her ability to make deliciousness come from those leftover boxes of rice.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I have.
