Description: This is the third edition of a book that encompasses the practice of respiratory care. The previous edition was published in 2012.
Purpose: This edition is a continuation and update of the previous two. It has been updated by a diverse group of respiratory therapists and physicians who infuse this book with not just new concepts, but also a more thorough and contemporary account of standards of practice.
Audience: Although this book is intended primarily for respiratory therapy students, it will prove a useful and insightful reference for clinicians. The authors are experts in their fields.
Features: The book is broken down into five sections (assessment, therapeutics, diseases, applied sciences, and profession) with a total of 60 chapters. Each chapter begins with an outline of key topics and a list of objectives. Clinical practice guidelines, glossary terms, key points/respiratory recaps, tables, and images appear throughout to reinforce objectives. Each chapter ends with a suggested reading bibliography and the book ends with a glossary, index, equations, and abbreviations.
Assessment: This is an outstanding book that continues to be a standard in respiratory care.
