Bhaskar Majumder is at present a Professor in Economics in G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad. He got his education in Calcutta and taught in Calcutta for many years. He has published so far eight books, several research papers in journals of national and international repute, many articles in magazines and print media. He has completed several research projects on basic needs, environment, and governance supported by Planning Commission, Government of India, World Bank, and ICSSR, New Delhi. He was a Visiting Fellow in France, and is a Guest Faculty in BHU, Varanasi. He is a member of many professional bodies. In addition to academic research, he is also involved in movements for social change.
Badri Narayan Tiwari, poet, author and social scientist was born in Bhojpur, a village in Bihar, in 1965. He is a faculty member of Social History/Cultural Anthropology, in the Centre for Culture, Power and Change, at G.B. Pant Social Science Institute. He also heads the Manav Vikas Sanghralaya and the Dalit Resource Centre, at G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Jhusi, Allahabad. His two anthologies of poems, Such suney kai din hue and Shabadpadiyani are well known, and his poems have been translated into English, French, Dutch, Oriya, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi and Urdu. Narayan’s poems and write-ups have been published in several literary magazines like Hans, Alochana, Thadbhav, Kathadesh, Tatha, etc. Publications: Lok Sanskriti mey Rashtravaad (Research), Sanskritik Gadya (Essay), Documenting Dissent (English), Women Heroes and Dalit Assertion in North India, 2006 (English) and Fascinating Hindutva Saffron Politics and Dalit Mobilisation, 2009 (English). Literary Awards: He was awarded the Bharat Bhusan Agarwal Award (1991), Banarsi Prasad Bhojpuri Samman (2002) and Kedar Samman (2006).
