The District Attorney accused Susan Daniels of killing her husband. During the trial, she sat motionless and looked straight ahead as the prosecution painted a horrifying picture of her as a monster. Shawn, a coward at heart, was terrified of their pressure tactics to force change, and began offering Susan in exchange for leniency.
Susan endured extensive amounts of physical and mental abuse from both Shawn and his unsavory associates. When Shawn got in trouble with the mob, he never took the beatings himself. He volunteered Susan instead. At what point would she say enough? Would her torment force her to do the unthinkable?
At the height of Susan's tortured life, Shawn took on a mistress, Rita Daschard, and a very public affair ensued. He flaunted her around town as if he were no longer married. He assumed she just wanted his money, but she had a much more sinister agenda. An agenda that would plunge an unsuspecting Susan into even greater danger and emotional torment. As Susan's suffering became unbearable, she vowed to fight back.
