The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is Samuel Taylor Coleridge's stunning masterpiece of supernatural imagery, sin and penance. This Nook edition is enhanced with 38 illustrations by Gustave Doré.
A note on formatting. The poem is written in seven sections, and to keep the flow of stanzas with as little breakup from partial pages as possible in a Nook version, the illustrations have been bunched together after the sections rather than interspersed throughout the poem. Coleridge's marginal notes follow stanzas, it being difficult or impossible to make marginal notes on a Nook, but are indented, italicized, and in smaller type to make their purpose clear. The marginal notes of Coleridge and the illustrations of Doré are in themselves masterworks.
