Overview

Badger and his friends live a peaceful life in Pantmawr Valley, but sometimes they like to cause a little mischief. Its the exploration season in the Vast United Continent, and the group of four decides to steal and consume a mysterious plant called Wild Fruit. After the scheme nearly causes his death and leaves him with bizarre side effects, Badger must journey north to the Savage Wilds to meet with a Divine specialist. Along the way, the band of friends encounters dangerous people and unexpected truths about the unique world they inhabit.

About the Author

Hope Gordon is a lover of adventurous fantasy, a Shakespearian scholar, and a former teacher of high school English. Now a full-time writer, she lives in Boise, Idaho with her husband and three loving dogs. She does her best writing in a secluded spot by the riverside, and spends the rest of her free time painting, traveling, or crocheting little animals. Savage Wild is her first published story.

A great start to what could be a super series. Badger and his friends are so diverse but relatable that you want to look out for them. Their journey has many twists and turns drive the story on without being too unbelievable. Great rich world building.

Savage Wild is such a wholesome tale. This is the perfect beginner fantasy novel for young adults. The friendships between Badger and his friends are so heartwarming. They support one another, and their strengths and weaknesses pair so well. Even when one makes a mistake, the others try to make them feel better by acknowledging the mistake, but not letting them dwell on it. These characters are certainly the friends you want to continue having adventures with.

Hope Gordon does a great job in writing this, it had everything that I was looking for from the description. The overall feel of this worked with the world and thought the overall feel worked. I thought the cover was everything that I was looking for and thought the plot worked well overall. It had that magical element that I wanted and the characters were wonderfully done.
