Scotland at the speed of life: making ourselves at home on the road
When the author embarked on her extended vacation to the United Kingdom she promised to shareher experiences with friends and family by posting photographs online.Moved by the beauty of the country and the richness of her experiences, she began to share her adventures through the written word as well. Her blogs soon gathereda captivated following, and so the seedsfor this book were sown.
Initially conceived as a short,literature-inspiredtour of Great Britain, Ms. Rothsteins itinerary evolved into a three-month adventure of a lifetime. To her surprise and delight, the extended duration allowed for a deeper experience gainedby slowing her pace and taking the time to let life happen.
In this volume, the author shares, vividly and humorously, accounts of the places she and her husband visited on their travels through Scotland. The inspiration she draws from her journeyas well as the breathtaking photographswill motivate others to follow in her path. She also offers a thoughtful and practical guidetoplanning and organizing an extended trip, from how to set up an itinerary to packing a three-month wardrobe in a single suitcase.
Traveling at the speed of everyday life, Ms. Rothstein accomplishes something we all desire, but rarely achieve while on the roadmaking ourselves at home.

Impressive first hand experiences - fun [5 Stars]
I love this ebook. Filled with expressive stories of sites, people, culture, history, and things to do. Would easily make one believe that they were actually traveling with you. First hand observations and perspectives of many of the best sites to be seen around Scotland. Insightful entries many related to culture and history or the area. Gives one a clear view of the experiences of what it might be like to actually live there. Like the convenient hyperlinks to other related entries, related literature. Extremely comprehensive advice for any travelers - either for extended, slow travel, or for quick trips.
Great reading! [5 Stars]
I finished the book in record time. Loved every minute of it, sorry I finished it so quickly, hurry and write another!! I even enjoyed watching the packing video and marveled at the way you can get away w/so few clothes!
Scotland at the Speed of Life [5 Stars]
The beauty of this book is the combination of lively prose with outstanding photographs that make personal the adventure of travel. I love the way you can navigate from the descriptive page to pertinent information, like a map. This book was a revelation of how to get the most out of travel. Faced with planning an extended time (months) of overseas travel for pleasure, where would you start? I would buy Mrs. Rothsteins book just for the Toolkits chapter. This entire project is so well planned and executed and joyous that I wonder if perhaps Mrs. Rothstein was an engineer in her past life. But no, her soul is that of a humanist. Buy the book and judge for yourself. Its fantastic.
Beautiful Scotland [5 Stars]
It doesnt take long to realize that this is one of the most complete travel guides written. Although it has been 30 years (Wow) since I was last in Scotland, this little book brings me right back. Mrs. Rothsteins writing is wonderful with few words she conveys the feeling of the land, climate, people and history of Scotland. Just what a travel guide should be with beautiful pictures and videos that make you smile. I thought I knew how to prepare for travel but after reading this gem of a book with Cynthias guide for packing, preparing your home site and life on the road, I say this woman has combined Art and Science in 150 pages of fun. Look out Rick S!
Traveling in Scotland [5 Stars]
I was very impressed with Cynthia Fletcher Rothstein's book. I learned a lot about Scotland, and the photos were beautiful. This book would be helpful to anyone traveling anywhere, not just to Scotland. I can't wait to read her next book.
Beautiful and entertaining! [5 Stars]
A wonderful book with entertaining anecdotes and practical tips that even a well seasoned traveler could learn from. I have traveled to many different places, but have never been to Scotland and now, with young children, I'm taking a hiatus from world travels so, I thoroughly enjoyed "traveling" to Scotland with this book as my guide. The pictures are breathtakingly beautiful and I loved seeing the personal pictures of the author and her travel companion, Marcus. I am now inspired to plan an extended trip of with my family once the kids are older! Scotland at the Speed of Life - 100% recommended reading!
