Katz uses a variety of stitches, including right-angle weave, flat and tubular peyote stitch, herringbone stitch, and ladder stitch in necklaces, bracelets, and earrings that range from understated crystal-studded tennis bracelets and simple-yet-sophisticated hoop earrings to attractive and eye-catching statement necklaces featuring embellished cabochons or floral-inspired motifs. Most of the projects are intended for intermediate and advanced beaders—a nice departure in a category often dominated by beginner-level projects. The basics of each stitch used are covered. Individual projects include step-by-step instructions with illustrations for the more complex steps. VERDICT Katz's projects are sophisticated in both style and technique.
