Features: Illustrations are in black-and-white only. The quality of the reproductions is fair. Additional pictures would be helpful. References are sparse. Additional references would help support explanations to questions. The table of contents and index are adequate. The book has a clean, well-organized appearance. Patient management in the U.K. in some discussions differs from standard practice in the U.S.
Assessment: This is an excellent review for the physician in training or recertifying attending emergency medicine physician before board examinations in emergency medicine. It does not have a place in the emergency department itself as a reference book, but it should be available in medical libraries or to individual physicians before board examinations.
