About the Author

Richard Lau is chief scientist of the Internet and Wireless Network Management department at Applied Research of Telcordia. Dr. Lau holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He received the "New Jersey Inventors of the Year" award in 1997 for his pioneering work on SONET self-healing ring networks. Ram Khare is a principal systems engineer at Tactical Systems and Solutions Business Unit of Science Applications International Corporation. Dr. Khare has over 25 years of experience in telecommunications, space and defense, and physics and life sciences. He holds an M.Sc. in electronics and radio physics from Indore University and a Ph.D. in biophysics from All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. Y. William Chang is president of Acumaestro, Inc., a system development firm specializing in service design and management for information technology. He has over 18 years of consulting, engineering, and development experience in major telecommunications and financial companies and received his M.S. in computer science from the New Jersey Institute of Technologies.
