About the Author

John Butler was born in the United Kingdom and lived in Khartoum before moving to Canada, where he attended the Universities of Toronto and Manitoba. He taught at universities in Nigeria, Canada, and Japan. He has written and edited a number of books on seventeenth-century literature. Now retired, Butler lives in Winnipeg with his wife and four cats.
