Overview

Sleeping in the Bathtub is based on a true story about a man who shot three people near West Virginia University in 1980. One of the victims died. Timothy Allen McWilliams was a former Marine whose first trial ended in a hung jury, the second trial ended in conviction, and then the West Virginia Supreme Court overturned his conviction in 1986. Between 1980-1988, Tim was kept (on and off) in Weston State Hospital. Diagnosed as a schizophrenic, Tim lived under the radar with his parents for almost 30 years in Buckhannon, WV. Earlier this year, Tim woke one morning and stabbed to death his father. Based on public records, interviews, and the author's memories, Tim's story is told.
