Smash
Smash follows the cast, crew and creators of a fictional Broadway musical through intense weeks of casting, rehearsals, backstabbings and betrayals, in anticipation of its arrival on the Great White Way. Told through the eyes of an eager young production secretary, the story is loosely based on the author's first-hand experiences. Midge Maghakian has just accepted a job as production secretary on a new Broadway musical, Shine On, Harvest Moon. However, she soon discovers there is more drama backstage than onstage with a cast of characters that include a diva “Star” leading lady, uncompromising creative forces, and a ruthless producer who will stop at nothing to get his way. From its inception in New York, to out-of-town tryouts in Boston, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, Midge recounts the exciting – and often, scandalous – journey to Broadway.
