Overview

West Hollywood, summer 1977. The LA punk rock scene is just taking off, as is the career of Sugar Smith, an aspiring punk rock singer. Sugar has just landed a gig with Snake Pit, house band at the famed Viper Den, and the hottest punk group in town. But just as everything seems to be going her way, the murder of Snake Pit's former singer threatens to destroy Sugar's entire life. The murderer is out for revenge: Sugar's life, career, and family—her brother JJ and her younger half-siblings—are all under the gun. Sugar embarks on a desperate quest to find and stop the killer before he or she can carry out the rest of their nefarious plan to ruin her life and the lives of those closest to her.

C. A. Jaymes is a graduate of the prestigious writing program at the University of California, Irvine where she studied under "The Dean of West Coast Writers," Oakley Hall. A life-long music aficionado, she was involved in the first wave of LA punk and attended numerous concerts at venues such as The Whiskey a Go Go, The Hollywood Palladium, the Starwood, and many others. She has combined her love of writing and music in this first of the Sugar Smith Mysteries.
