Overview

Congenial country a cappella specialists Home Free return with their second album of 2022. As a follow-up to the lengthy 20-track Sounds of Lockdown, So Long Dixie plays ever so slightly with the group's tried-and-true formula. Whereas the former collection doubled down on the well-known cover songs that helped launch the group's career, Dixie is focused mostly on new, original material and for the first time features instrumental backing on a handful of tracks. While the addition of some low-key guitar, piano, and percussion parts does add a bit of flair to Home Free's impeccable vocal arrangements, their overall presentation remains as slick as ever.
