Overview

Solar PV Power: Design, Manufacturing and Applications from Sand to Systems details developments in the solar cell manufacturing process, including information from system design straight through to the entire value chain of Solar PV Manufacturing. In addition, the book includes aspects of ground mounted grid connected solar PV systems and optimization for solar PV plants, economic analyses, and reliability and performance. The advances and processes of solar product technology and reliability, along with the performance of solar PV plants and operational and maintenance aspects with advance diagnostic techniques are also presented, making this an ideal resource.

With rapid change in the manufacturing process, it is crucial for solar cells and solar PV modules to adapt to new developments in solar products, especially with regard to reliability, financial aspects and performance.

About the Author

Rabindra Kumar Satpathy is an electrical engineering graduate from NIT, Warangal. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in renewable energy: in the field of solar photovoltaic (PV) power systems, wind power generation and others. He started his solar career in Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA),
installing India’s first 25 Kwp solar PV diesel hybrid system, PV wind hybrid system, 1.1 MW wind farm from 1984 to
1990. Rabindra Kumar Satpathy served as a key member of the management team in Tata BP Solar, Bangalore from
1990 to 2002 and was instrumental in setting up India’s first 5MW project in Rajasthan and 1 MW Rooftop project for
Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi as President of Reliance Industries Limited-Solar Group between 2007 and
2013. He was also involved in establishing solar modules and cell factories as well as planning for large manufacturing facilities from polysilicon to systems.

Venkateswarlu Pamuru holds a Ph. D degree in Material Science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
He worked for the Indian Space Research Organisation, Govt. of India for 23 years as a Scientist in the Solar Panels
Division and was involved in the development of Space Solar Panel Technology with Si, GaAs and Multijunction solar cells. He worked as a Project Manager for Solar Array for INSAT-2C & INSAT- 2D Satellites and was involved in the design, manufacturing and testing of solar panels for satellites. He was involved in establishment of Si solar cell and module manufacturing lines and developed the fabrication process and produced modules in Moserbaer
Photovoltaics Ltd, and in Reliance Industries Ltd, India. Dr. Pamuru is involved in the design and engineering of roof top and ground mounted solar PV power systems and monitoring the O&M aspects of solar PV plants.
