Chapter One

Why Is It Hard To Get Little Things Out Of The Water?

There is something in the water. I want to get it out.
But when I move close to it, it waves all about.
I know that I can catch it. I must not make a wave.
Slowly. Slowly. I advance. Till I catch the little stave!

What Makes A Rainbow?

Finger in the water makes waves that we can see.
Flipper under the water makes waves we feel not see.

Nickel on the siding makes waves we feel, see, hear.
Nickel on the faucet makes waves we only hear.

Sunshine in the window is waves we feel and see.
Sunshine in the shower makes waves we see, differently.

(note: sunshine in the shower makes a rainbow.)

Why Water Spirals Going Down The Drain

Sally had a little soap, its bubbles white as snow
And everywhere her fingers went, her soap was sure to go
She led it to the drain one day, As it began to spin.
They spun round and round the top, Till there was room to fit them in.

Face Cloth

Facecloth, FaceCloth, will you stick to the side?
Yes Sir. Yes Sir! Water up my hide!
The water sucks the tile. The water sucks at me.
Then we all stay together. All of us three.

What Is Floating?

My boat floats on my water
My water floats in the tub
My tub floats in the house
My house floats in the mud

My mom is floating on the floor
Now she's knocking at the door.

Mother, I will float to you,
I'll open the door and let you through!

Why does Soap Help Clean Me?

There's some oil on my finger, dear Liza, dear Liza.
There's some oil on my finger, dear Liza, some oil.

Rinse it off, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry.
Rinse if off, dear Henry, dear Henry, rinse it off.

Water won't grab oil, dear Liza, dear Liza,
Water won't grab oil, dear Liza, it won't.

Add soap, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry.
Add soap, dear Henry, dear Henry, add soap.

Oily soap's on my finger, dear Liza, dear Liza.
Oily soap's on my finger, dear Liza, Oily soap.

Rinse it off, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry.
Rinse if off, dear Henry, dear Henry, rinse it off.

Water will grab soap, dear Liza, dear Liza,
Water will grab soap, dear Liza, Thank you.

Why Are Soap Bubbles So Durable?

What have you found, water drops, water drops?
What have you found, churning water?

I've found soap to envelope me as I stretch heavenly
That's good now. Soap's my dura mater.

What more do you need, water bead, water bead?
What more do you need, churning water?

I need a splash or flare to stretch me to the air.
I fall down then. Soap's my dura mater.

What makes you form a sphere, water dear, water dear?
What makes you form a sphere, churning water?

The soap that grabs me so, grabs the air also.
The air's trapped now. Soap's my dura mater.

Why Aspirin Speeds Up Melting

Melt, melt, melt the ice,
In the little glass
Freeze again,
Freeze again,
Freeze again,
Freeze again, as long as ice lasts.

Mix, mix, mix the melt with some aspirin
Unfrozen,
Unfrozen,
Unfrozen,
Unfrozen.
The melt does not freeze again.
