PreS–Two sweet selections for emergent readers. In the first one, little Lola is an obedient daughter. She takes a bath, picks up her toys, and helps her mother carry the groceries without complaining. When she finally grows tired and exasperated, Mom makes a snack for her and proudly agrees that she is, in fact, an angel. In the second selection, Lola's little brother, Leo, demands candy, toys, and clothes, all of which Lola gives him instantly. Leo continues asking for things and soon Lola gets fed up. She insists on some peace but little Leo, in turn, demands a kiss, which they both share lovingly. Both books have repetitive texts and colorful pictures that depict the events in the story. Recommended for bookstores as well as public libraries.
