Lucas Cameron has been through so much in the last two years. He went from being inexperienced in love to having had three very significant relationships. Now, as he flees from his problems, his standing with Bobby Ray—his current boyfriend is up in the air. They spend the summer before Lucas's junior year apart.
When Vicky—Lucas's best friend leaves for college, Lucas must face the year ahead of him. His abusive stepdad's nephew has come to live with them, taking half of Luke's room and his privacy. When Bobby Ray returns from a summer away, he's different. Lucas begins to see signs of something dark beneath the surface. He must try to navigate the new landscape of a relationship he thought he knew, all while dealing with the tensions he faces from his toxic home life.
Lucas goes into junior year, feeling strangely. He will face some of the darkest moments of his life in the next year. He will change, transforming into someone he might not like all that much, while trying to hold on to some semblance of who he was and all while trying to figure out who he wants to be in and outside of his romantic entanglements.
