Overview

As a professor I have had the pleasure of working with thousands of adults and have helped them to substantially increase their public speaking abilities. One of the reasons I have been able to do that is because I have applied the best lesson I learned in the military in training people to become more effective speakers.

I run my speech classes like a boot camp and we practice, practice and practice some more.

But my version of boot camp is slightly different from the Army’s. Yes, my concept is based on placing the students in public speaking situations they have never been in. Plus, I increase the level of difficulty as they progress and ask them to speak on a daily basis. Yet, it is based on making sure that class is fun, entertaining and enjoyable.

That is what this book is about. I will be asking you to challenge yourself. I will prod you to step out of your comfort zones. But if you follow the advice, in the form of missions, you will also see how public speaking can be exciting, invigorating and downright fun.

I will also discuss a lot of ideas that you can use to immediately reduce anxiety in the form of mental outlooks. And for those who need immediate advice, this book also contains tips and tricks to help you immediately take control of your public speaking experience and not let it control you.
