About the Author

Phil Midling was raised in both Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended California State University, Chico where he majored in journalism and was a recipient of the prestigious California Intercollegiate Press Association award for sports writing. Upon graduation, he served as a wildland firefighter, track and field coach, congressional aide and speechwriter, and survey research
consultant. He was also the editor and publisher of a Northern California news and feature magazine.

He is currently a novelist and screenwriter. Phil was the author of the book, Reflections and Remnants, documenting the Paradise Camp Fire, one of the deadliest wildfires in United States history. His debut novel, Spiderland, is a WW ll mystery/thriller set in Germany. His latest screenplay, Fool on the Hill, is a romantic comedy about the Beatles and is in pre-production. Phil is also the writer and creator of Manson, a 14-episode limited television series based on Charles Manson and the Tate-LaBianca murders.
Phil is an avid athlete, married with children, and lives in Chico, California.
