In this gentle self-help book, pop singer and actress Lovato encourages her fans with 365 daily affirmations, one for each date of the year. The affirmations are a mix of general platitudes and inspiring quotes from famous people running the gamut from Aristotle to Lil Wayne. Each affirmation is followed by either a fuller explanation of its meaning or a relevant reminiscence from Lovato’s own life, and then a specific goal for the day. Both Lovato and Schorr read in a warm, earnest, and sincere tone, and young fans may well take comfort from this audiobook’s words of encouragement. However, to use the book as instructed (consulting it each morning for that specific day’s affirmation and goal), it would be easier to do so with the print version—with the audiobook finding the right entry for each day could be challenging. A Feiwel and Friends hardcover. (Jan.)
