Steadfast Awareness: Reflections and Life's Takeaways
By Matthew Edmund Airey

About the Book:

Through decades of professional experience in technology, finance, and consulting, Matthew Edmund Airey navigated through personal and professional loss of life. Steadfast Awareness and perseverance define his outlook. In his reflections, Airey offers joyous memories of his loved ones, their deaths, and moving forward. He believes confronting challenges is the only way to overcome them. Each chapter invites personal reflection with question prompts to direct focus to the present. The author hopes the book will guide readers to find meaning in their own tragedies and cherished memories in Life's Takeaways.

Airey is the son of two California schoolteachers and worked as an adolescent on his family ranch. Some of his reflections were cultivated during his high school years. Airey says being present, listening to, and caring about people you encounter is the best way to forge meaningful relationships. He includes personal poems to his mother and friends to express himself, and encourages the reader to do the same. Airey shares 18 business reflections that directly influenced his consulting and personal strategies. His work and life's contests forced him to fundamentally appreciate his immigrant ancestors, close family and friends. He believes engaging our shared humanity could be a powerful antidote to contemporary American social ills. In the text he advocates for a Steadfast Awareness — to refocus on those people and values that matter most.
