CHAPTER 1

How to Use This Book for Healing and Health

This book is meant to be a resource for both the beginner and the adept. In the chapter "Stone and Crystal Descriptions," I have organized information of more than 240 stones and crystal shapes in an easily accessible manner. The stones I chose are inexpensive, easy for the collector to find, and cover the broadest spectrum of vibrations for healing, love, and support.

Let me say right up front, there are no beautiful color photos of stones in this book. That has been done, and done well, by others and there is no way I could do it better! What I have done here has not been done in this way before. Buy a good pictorial book for identifying the stones and mine for what to do with them in your life.

In my use and study of stones, I have come across many categories that describe or vibrationally correlate with the vibrations of the stones. Some of these categories are animals, plants or planets that vibrate in a similar or complementary manner to the stone. Some are cultural, such as Jewish tribes associated with or the historical use of the stone. Some are descriptive, such as the color, composition, or specific gravity of the stone. Some are spiritual, such as a deity, saint, or sacred number, and some are metaphysical, such as magical use, the tarot card, or the zodiac sign. All have aspects of vibrational healing and health. In any case, all are spelled out and easy to find. You will see the acronym PEMS frequently used. It stands for the physical/emotional/mental/spiritual aspects of the human totality.

Do not let these descriptions limit you. Communicate with the stones. Hold a stone and ask it for the information it has for you. Monitor your own body for any reaction. Jot down thoughts that come to you. Sleep with the stone and journal your dreams. I believe just having a stone in your energy field and setting your intention sets up communication between you. If you have found, learned, or intuited further uses for the stones, use them. In fact, I would love to hear from you and learn from you.

In the chapter "Conditions and the Stones that Support Them," you will And more than three thousand descriptive words from our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self (PEMS), as well as medical, psychological, attitudinal, and personality issues or problems and the stones that balance and/or support those issues or problems. Some of the words appear "positive" or "negative." It is assumed that we are all moving toward balance and health, so please understand that the stones listed will enhance the positive and alleviate the negative. There are also many professions listed and the stones that support them. Look up your word, see the stones that support, go to the stone descriptions for complete information, and choose the stone just right to support you at this particular time with that issue. You can also use intuition, kinesiology, or a pendulum, toning, or other type of dousing method to choose the supportive stone or stones.

There are chapters that further describe many of the categories found in the descriptions and more, such as the "Human Energy System," the "Astrological Signs," the "Christian Sacraments and the Jewish Tree of Life," the "Sacred Rays," and the "Medicine Wheel." These are both introductions to these areas and information on how each area correlates with the vibrations of the stones. You will find suggestions on how to combine stones with each area to enhance one's interest and practice and achieve healing of the PEMS.

The chapter on our Solar System is informational. The planets are our siblings in this great Universe, and it is a good idea to know a little about them.

Adding the richness of stones to our lives is simply a matter of matching vibrations through comparable color, sound, numerical value, meaning, etc.

All information is intended to bring a state of happiness, health, and healing. Any use of it for negative purposes will certainly make the Mineral People unhappy and lead to karmic debt on the part of the user. Be certain, if you use stones for magic, you use them only to do good and harm none. The Mineral World does not enjoy being used for dark purposes, and one may find negative efforts rebounding.

The Mineral Kingdom is the oldest kingdom on Earth and has witnessed all of human development and experience. It forms the foundation upon which everything builds, and its members welcome us as brothers and sisters on this world. This book is an invitation to play, learn, and live in the world of the Mineral Folk. Talk to them, listen to them, and honor them as they do us. If this does not make sense to you, take a leap and pretend. You may find Mother Earth's sacred power enhances and enlivens your life more than you can ever imagine.

This book is meant to be a workbook. Do not be afraid to underline or make notes in it! Above all, have fun!

We are all one.

CHAPTER 2

Stone Descriptions

The following are explanations of the categories included in the stone descriptions. Not all stones have all categories according to availability of information. You will find descriptions of a type of stone, such as Agate, followed by varieties within that family of stones, such as Blue Lace Agate. The varieties will have most of the qualities of the "parent" stone. Any additional qualities are listed with the variety. If the variety is especially strong in a quality that the parent has, I repeated it.

Name of the Stone

(See. ...)

ADVICE: As I learned about and worked with the stone devas, each had guidance or advice, if you will, to give humanity.

ALLIES: These are stones that work well to augment or raise the vibrations of the listed stone when used together.

ANGEL: Angelic being or presence that correlates with a particular stone.

ANIMAL: Animals have qualities that taught indigenous peoples life lessons. I have equated those attributes to the attributes of the stones: e.g. Agate is an earthy (turtle) stone that brings abundance (turkey).

AVAILABILITY: Common, very common, rare, and very rare

BIRTHSTONE: American/British tradition as listed by Mella, plus some extras.

CAUTION: There may be detriments — serious or not — to body, mind, or spirit. These are listed in bold type.

CHAKRA: Energy centers. The vibrations of the stone determine which chakra(s) it supports. This is due to structure, color, or other attributes. See the chapter "Human Energy System with an In-Depth Study of the Chakras."

CLEANSING: Mentioned only if good old soap and water are not good for the stone. See the chapter "Cleansing, Charging, and Programming Stones and Crystals."

COLOR: Colors of a single type of stone may vary greatly according to different mineral additions and environmental conditions.

COMPLEMENT: These are stones that can be used to gentle the function of another stone.

COMPOSITION: Mineral make-up of the stone.

CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Seven categories or systems according to the stone's crystalline structure.

CULTURE: Cultures in which the stone is known to have been particularly important.

DEITY/SAINT: A god or goddess or holy one from different cultures.

ELEMENT: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, or Akasha (the fifth element) that correlates with the stone.

ENERGY: A description of the stone's vibrational qualities and how it affects our own vibrations. "PEMS" is used to specify physical/emotional/mental/spiritual.

FOLK NAME: This may be historical, another name the stone is known by, or the prime attribute of the stone. Some have more than one listed.

GENDER: Stones often seem to have male, female, or androgynous energy.

HARDNESS: According to the Mohs Scale, with Talc being a 1.0 and Diamond a 10.0.

HEALING USE: This describes health issues of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions that are enhanced, supported, alleviated, or prevented by the energy of the stone.

HISTORY: Notable events or tidbits of interest.

JEWISH TRIBE: As found in Richardson, Richardson, and Huett.

MAGICAL USE: Much, but not all, taken from Cunningham. These are not the only uses — look under "Powers" and other areas, and apply, experiment, and find your own. Always stay in the light with magical activities. Practicing the dark always reflects back to your own detriment.

METAL: Stones blend best with certain metals but can certainly be used with others.

PLANET: Stones have an affinity with particular planets or their moons. See the chapter "Our Solar System The Sun, Moon, and Planets."

PLANT: These are members of the Plant Kingdom whose vibrations correspond with those of the stone. Find more listed in the astrology chapter under the astrological signs listed with the stone.

POWERS: These are attributes that may not fit in the other categories.

RAY: Stones vibrate, according to their crystalline structure (system), to the creative light emanations, or Sacred Rays, which originally formed our Solar System. See the chapter "Sacred Rays."

SACRED #: Every name comes down to a number from one to nine. See the chapter "Numerology — Sacred Numbers" for information on this subject.

SOURCE: The locations where the stone is found with the most common listed first.

SPECIFIC GRAVITY: The weight of the mineral divided by the weight of water displaced by the mineral.

TAROT CARD: Certain stones correlate with the archetypal ideas set forth in the Tarot. You can also choose by comparison and intuition. See the chapter "The Tarot."

ZODIAC SIGN: A broad variety of astrological signs are attributed to stones. I have included the ones most widely used that best suit my feel for the stone. See the chapter "Astrological Signs."
